3 BHK Flats in Wakad: Is It the Right Upgrade for Your Family?
Moving from a 2 BHK to a 3 BHK in Wakad? How to decide if the extra room is worth it, what to look for in a family layout, and the checks that protect your investment.

Many Wakad families bought their first 2 BHK when they started working in Hinjewadi. A few years later, life looks different — children, parents moving in, or a permanent work-from-home routine. That is usually when the search for 3 BHK flats in Wakad begins.
The question is not only “Can we afford a 3 BHK?” but “Will the extra room change how we live every day?” Here is a calm way to answer it.
Signs you are ready for a 3 BHK
- Work happens at home. If one or both of you work remotely or in a hybrid pattern, a dedicated room with a door is often the single biggest quality-of-life upgrade.
- Family is growing — in either direction. Children who need separate rooms, or parents who will live with you.
- Guests are frequent. If the living room regularly becomes a bedroom, a third room pays for itself in peace of mind.
- You plan to stay long. A 3 BHK bought with a ten-year horizon avoids a second move and its costs.
When a well-planned 2 BHK may still be enough
If your need is occasional — a guest once a month, or a desk rather than an office — a large, efficiently planned 2 BHK with a usable balcony nook can be the smarter choice. It keeps your budget and maintenance lower and leaves room for other priorities. Be honest about frequency, not just possibility.
What a good family 3 BHK layout looks like
- Privacy zoning: bedrooms grouped away from the entrance and living area.
- Two full bathrooms at minimum, one attached to the master bedroom and one common bath accessible from the living area.
- A third bedroom that can flex — sized for a bed and a desk, with a window and its own ventilation.
- Storage: a utility area, loft space or room for wardrobes on full walls.
- Light and cross-ventilation in the living room and kitchen.
- RERA carpet area that matches your furniture plan — measure your current sofa and beds before visiting.
Location checks that matter more for families
For a family home, the daily routes change: school runs, tuition classes, the nearest hospital, a park for evening walks. Wakad’s connections to Thergaon, Pimple Saudagar, Baner–Balewadi and Hinjewadi make it practical for mixed commutes, but always test the specific school and office routes at peak time before you decide.
The financial checks
- Compare all-inclusive cost — base price plus parking, GST where applicable, stamp duty, registration, maintenance deposit and legal charges.
- Ask for a construction-linked payment plan and check it against the project’s RERA progress updates.
- Verify the RERA registration, approved plans and proposed completion date on the MahaRERA portal.
- Plan for interiors: a 3 BHK typically needs more furniture and fixtures than buyers budget for.
Upgrading without leaving the neighbourhood you love
Moving up does not have to mean moving away. Many families prefer to stay close to the schools, friends and routines they already have — and that is exactly what good planning should respect.
